How Does Engage Consult Work in a Social Care Setting?

Practices using Engage Consult as their online consultation solution can use the ‘collaboration’ feature to share information and medical requests with colleagues in a variety of settings with patient consent.

This feature is particularly useful for doctors to receive specialist advice from secondary care colleagues prior to a referral being made. This means ensuring that patients are not referred to the wrong department, or essential referral criteria have not been met.

PCNs or locality hubs can use our systems to help manage the medical needs of care and residential home patients. Bridlington PCN and Yorkshire Health Partners have been using Engage Consult to manage care home medical requests on behalf of all practices in the Bridlington locality. This new service has helped redesign the care home pathway, reduce unnecessary home visits, introduce video consultation and new technology into care homes in Bridlington.

For localities not using Engage Consult presently, PCNs can purchase Engage CRS, our Care Referral Service. CRS can be used by PCNs and other community providers and has all of the existing features of Engage Consult.
